Marilyn was born in a horse barn. When Marilyn was about two years old she, her mother and littermates became ill with upper respiratory infections. Sadly, her mother and littermates all died, and Marilyn survived, although her sinus cavities and nasal passages had been permanently damaged by the URI. Marilyn, along with her good friend Querio, a Siamese mix, continued to live in the barn for many years. One day, Marilyn cut her tongue badly on a tuna can she found in the dumpster. As her injury worsened, she could no longer eat, and was quickly loosing weight. She was weak and emaciated when we noticed her and took her into our rescue. Plans were to return and rescue Querio, however, Querio developed lymphoma and died before he and Marilyn could be reunited. Today Marilyn lives happily in her forever home.
Sweetie was found late one evening in the country sitting by the side of a busy road. She was patiently and faithfully waiting for her owner to return to pick her up. As each car passed, she looked up hopefully, aniticipating the arrival of her guardian, who had dumped her earlier in the day. We'd like to think that her owners didn't realize how quickly cats dumped in the country become "coyote food." Thankfully, we found Sweetie before the coyotes did, and she now is living happily ever after in her new home.
Like Marilyn, Jethro was a "barn kitty." He was living a good life until the owner decided to move and leave him behind. He was taken into rescue and initially went to live in a home with other cats. Within a few weeks, Jethro was returned to the rescue...rejected because he chased the other cats in the house. Jethro was placed in another home where he lived for five years. When the guardian decided to move, he chose not to take Jethro with him, so poor Jethro was homeless again. Although only eight years old, Jethro now lives in his fourth home, however, this home is his forever home. Jethro has been promised that he will never be given up or abandoned again.
