Being a Responsible Pet Owner Means:
- Thinking about responsibilities before you adopt a pet
- Getting your pet spayed or neutered
- Making sure you can car for your pet throughout its lifetime
- Providing your pet with nutritious food and fresh water each day
- Putting a collar with identification on your pet that includes owner name and phone number
- Taking time and patience to socialize your pet
- Making sure your cat is taken care of when you go away for the day or on a vacation
- Spending time with your pet each day, playing with him/her, and giving love and attention
- Grooming your pet regularly
- Making sure that you obey local pet laws
- Taking your pet to a veterinarian for regular check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for illnesses
